Metuchen, NJ — A new chapter in the state’s growing cannabis industry began on May 17, 2025, as HoneyStash officially opened its doors in downtown Metuchen. The adult-use dispensary, located at 700 Middlesex Avenue, is the borough’s first cannabis retail location and aims to blend community values, quality products, and local culture into a modern shopping experience.
The site, formerly occupied by a Fulton Bank branch, has been completely transformed into a boutique-style dispensary with a warm and welcoming design. Positioned next to Starbucks and across from the Middlesex Greenway, HoneyStash offers prime accessibility for both pedestrians and commuters.
The grand opening event was a community celebration. Metuchen Mayor Jonathan Busch led the ribbon-cutting ceremony, commending the team for revitalizing a once-vacant space. “They’ve taken an unused building and turned it into something vibrant, inviting, and inclusive,” Busch said during his remarks. The launch featured live music from DJ Lord Sear and Sheik’s Garage, local food and wellness vendors, and even live art installations from area muralists.
HoneyStash is operated by HoneyProjects, the same group behind HoneyGrove Dispensary in Clementon. Known for their commitment to small-batch, locally grown cannabis, the team emphasizes education and experience. The dispensary’s menu features exclusive products from cultivators like EV Family Farms, Neptune’s Garden, and Brighterside Farms—names not often found in large-chain dispensaries.
Customers can expect a curated selection of flower, pre-rolls, edibles, and concentrates, with a particular focus on sustainability and craftsmanship. Many of the products are sourced from New Jersey’s independently licensed growers and processors, reinforcing HoneyStash’s mission to support the state’s evolving cannabis economy.
Inside the store, customers will find a gallery-like ambiance. Murals by local artists Olga Muzician and Jovon Dennis adorn the walls, blending contemporary art with cannabis culture. During the grand opening, artist Alex Lloyd created a live mural on-site, further underscoring the dispensary’s ties to the local arts scene.
The arrival of HoneyStash aligns with Metuchen’s proactive approach to cannabis business development. In 2022, the borough council approved ordinances allowing cannabis retail in designated zones. The move was part of a broader economic development strategy aimed at diversifying Metuchen’s downtown while providing legal, regulated access to cannabis.
HoneyStash is now open seven days a week, offering online ordering, in-store pickup, and consultations with trained budtenders. First-time customers and seasoned cannabis consumers alike are welcome to explore the space and ask questions in a pressure-free environment.
As the cannabis industry continues to gain traction across New Jersey, HoneyStash stands out as a community-first model. It’s more than a retail store—it’s a cultural hub that reflects the progressive values and creative spirit of Metuchen and the Jersey Shore area.
With its thoughtful design, curated product menu, and dedication to local partnerships, HoneyStash is poised to become a destination for both cannabis consumers and community advocates alike.
